Honeymooners Welcome

Mick tastes the wine .... mmm definately a house special!
The island

The resident heron - who posed for photos, this is apparently is his better side!

The island was only 55 yrds by 320 yrds - so a stroll round didn't take long!
Just to prove we didn't do much!

Relaxing in the bar ... for a change!

Relaxing local style

Casino - Dhiggri style - however much I bet I just couldn't loose!

"What do you mean you've won again ....!!"

Our candlelit dinner for two overlooking the ocean - cheesy but very romantic!
Welcome to Sri Lanka

Elephant Ride

Our taxi for the morning, Manaka. A 26 year old female elephant who consumes 250kg of food per day (and is also partial to the odd banana or two!)
Into the hill country ... and the rain!

Drive across the Knuckles mountains

Tea picker

Tea plantation - anyone fancy a brew?

Tea Factory

The end result - the perfect cuppa!
Kandy

Temple of the tooth - the tooth of the Buddha is in the gold casket and this is as close as we could get!

Kandyan Dancers

Fire eating

Downtown Kandy

Local transport - alright until it rains!

Our private balcony at Villa Rosa - the most amazing place. The chef visits your room to discuss what you would like for dinner, where you like it to be served and what time you want to eat!!! Talk about live like royalty ... we could easily get used to that.
Train journey to Ella

Waiting for the train due at 8.30am .... finally arrives at 10.45am - almost as bad as BR

Even the monks start to get bored waiting!

Monk walking home in the rain

Mick getting bored - we have been on the train for 4 hours only 3 more hours to go!

Plenty of time to take photos from train. The max speed was 15 kmp!

Our final destination

Ella Gap - breathtaking views
